Hope from History

From the President's Desk

In 1916, Articles of Incorporation were filed to create People’s State Bank. The following year, it opened for business at the corner of Water Street and Galena Street.

Sixteen years later, People’s State Bank merged with Prairie Sauk Bank. They assumed the new name of Bank of Prairie du Sac. Since then, we have grown, changed locations, added new technology, and expanded to two offices.

When our bank was first formed by a group of local citizens, businessmen, and farmers, they had no way of knowing what the future would bring. Despite the obstacles faced locally, nationally, and globally, they persevered.

We still have the People’s State Bank stone sign in our office. It is a reminder of where we started, where we have been, and where we are today. Knowing our history gives us the solid foundation needed to adapt and grow in these changing times.

Our current circumstances are far from ideal. People in our community and across the globe are facing challenges and hardships. Businesses and farms continue to work tirelessly to serve consumers and employees.

There is no way to predict the future. But if history has taught us anything, it is that difficulties will arise and we will persevere, both as a community and throughout the world.

Our community will continue moving forward. We, like the citizens, businessmen, and farmers who started People’s State Bank over 100 years ago, will continue working to improve our lives. Together we will grow stronger and move forward—the same way Bank of Prairie du Sac has for over a century.

Bank of Prairie du Sac is here to help and serve you and the Sauk Prairie community. Stay strong, stay safe, and stay healthy.
