The Meaning of Community

From the President's Desk

At Bank of Prairie du Sac, we are a locally owned, independent community bank. We often use this phrase, but what does it mean?

Locally owned means we are owned by people living in the Sauk Prairie area. Our decisions are made by local people, for local people.

As an independent bank, we report to ourselves and our customers. We do not answer to a large corporation whose interests are elsewhere.

To us, the community of Sauk Prairie is our world. It is our home, and its people are our family.

Lastly, community bank means we are based in one specific area, not multiple counties or states. We are only located in Sauk Prairie. When your money is saved with us, we lend it back to people and businesses within our community.

Community also means being connected by the same geography, history, and culture as the people we serve. We cheer for the same teams, enjoy the same restaurants, and know the same people.

Some may see community banks as limited because they serve only one area. But to us, the community of Sauk Prairie is our world. It is our home, and its people are our family.

We hold events like our Christmas Open House, where the entire community is invited to visit us and enjoy free treats. We create a custom calendar each year filled with local pictures from local photographers, showcasing the beautiful area in and around Sauk Prairie.

We support our local schools and non-profit organizations in a personal way that no big bank or corporation can. We know our customers because they are also our neighbors and friends.

These are the benefits of being a locally owned, independent community bank.
